Taraba State government has signed a N50million contract with a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Amason Integrated Service Ltd for alleviation of poverty.
Speaking at the ceremony, the commissioner for the ministry of cooperative and poverty alleviation, Mr Danfulani Kwataka, said that it is the desire of the present administration to drastically reduce poverty, stressing that only the eligible Taraba citizens would benefit from the soft loans.
According to him, the N50 million is expected to cover all the 16 local government areas as part of the soft loans to be disbursed to beneficiaries.
The chief executive of Amazon in Jalingo, Malam Mohammed Adamu, said already, a feasibility study had been carried out to ascertain those who would benefit from the loan.
