An estimated five million children die every year as a result of poor sanitation and hygiene, say health experts. In fact, halving the number of people who don’t have access to basic sanitation is one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals – and it’s a target that’s still a long way from being achieved. To help reach this goal, the Geneva-based Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council is launching a new funding initiative – as its executive director Jon Lane told World Radio Switzerland’s Adam Beaumont.
