JACK McCONNELL launched a fresh drive for full employment and an end to child poverty today.
The First Minister met UK Work and Pensions Secretary John Hutton during a visit to Glasgow's Easterhouse area.
Mr McConnell held Scotland's record on tackling child poverty and driving up employment as an example for the rest of the UK.
And the pair pledged to work together towards getting all "economically inactive" people in Scotland into a job, while still supporting those who can't work.
Mr McConnell said Scotland now has the highest employment rate of the UK nations, and had beaten targets on tackling child poverty. But he added: "We accept there is more we must do."
Work and Pensions Minister James Purnell was in Edinburgh to visit the Waterfront Recruitment Centre in Granton.

The trouble with Jack launching a "fresh drive" on anything is that he only has a provisional licence.
His London masters won't let him out on the road alone.
Whenever anything his masters think is important has to be done, it's "Dopey" Douglas Alexander or "Bellhill Bruiser" Reid who are sent out to bat for the South.
Wee Jack still has his "L" plates on and looks likely to fail his test on 3rd May.
