DEMOCRATIC Party President John Ssebana Kizito has accused the NRM government of keeping Ugandans in poverty. Ssebaana was yesterday addressing residents of Pakwachi during his presidential trail in West Nile.
"This government has made it impossible for us to enjoy the wealth God gave us. This country has a lot of riches," he said.
Ssebaana attributed the poverty in the country to government's bad policies.
He said the government's inability to think, had led to the dropping of hydro electricity power production leading to a power crisis in the country.
A Few weeks ago, Umeme, the power distribution company, announced that it had increased load-shedding on the advice of the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd.
UETCL said the power generation capacity had declined as a result of the low water level of Lake Victoria. Umeme said while the hydro-generation capacity was 265 MW two years ago, it had declined to less than 170 MW to date.
On the issue of peace, Ssebaana said he would ensure that peace prevails between Uganda and its neighbours when he takes over power.
