Famine and Drought in Africa - Longer Term Solutions

While we are in the midst of focusing on drought and famine today, there are people looking to the future and considering how effects from climate change will exacerbate the situation. The solution may be in front of us, but unsurprisingly the shortsighted dollar may prevent what is necessary.


"Currently, only about 4 percent of Sub-Saharan Africa’s arable land is irrigated; the rest is rain-fed, meaning it is susceptible to droughts and floods. Yet, irrigated land can haveyields that are up to five times those of rain-fed areas."
